International Women’s Day is about struggle. It honors those who fought and literally died for the rights of women–all women–and the opportunities we have long been denied. International Women’s Day invites us to think about how we can continue fighting for greater parity, in the geosciences and otherwise.
How are you commemorating International Women’s Day? How are you holding space for women in the geosciences? How are you pushing for greater parity?
And are you thinking intersectionally?
I’m spending my day polishing up and distributing scholarship application forms for my chapter of the Association for Women Geoscientists. We raised the funds in December and now its time to get the money into people’s hands!
But first, our language needs to be more explicitly inclusive…
